Maruti Suzuki Rock N Road: Redefining the SUV Experience

The Bugatti Veyron is a daunting act to follow. We know that, every petrolhead knows that, and Volkswagen knows that as well. But, despite Dieselgate and the current internal turmoil at VW, they are trying very hard for its successor to break more new ground with its successor, the long-awaited Chiron.
Although spy images of the Chiron have been surfacing regularly on the web for some time now, its power and performance figures have been kept under a tight lid until now. But over the New Year Eve, a Czech magazine by the name of Magazin ProDriver CZ has revealed that the Chiron will churn out a whooping 1,500 horses from its 8.0 litre W16 engine – 300 more than the Veyron SuperSport – and an Empire State Building-uprooting 1,500 Nm of torque. You can thank the added electric drive system and quad turbochargers for that added power.
So, the big question: How do all this added power and more slippery aerodynamics translate into that one parameter that we all have come to associate Bugattis with, sheer straight-line speed? Well, how about 467 kmph, if the Czech magazine is to be believed. The 0-100 kmph sprint, meanwhile, is an inconsequential 2.2 seconds. And oh, the speedometer reportedly runs all the way to 500 kmph.
Bugatti has just revealed a teaser video of the Chiron ahead of its debut at the Geneva Motor Show, but it is exactly as revealing as we’d come to expect from teaser videos, which means nothing. Of the 500-unit production run, 130 units of the Chiron have already been booked or spoken for, with each unit costing a cool 2 million euros.
Until then, plebeians not on Bugatti’s VIP list will have to wait for the Geneva Motor Show in March to view the Chiron in the flesh.
